Toy and Book Library!
The toy library offers a wide range of high quality toys and equipment for a nominal fee, which are suitable from birth to approximately six years.
Membership is open to anyone, with current members including parents, childminders, grandparents, toddler groups, preschools and primary schools. Members are responsible for determining the suitability of a toy for their child, however Children’s Centre staff are happy to help and give advice if needed.

Money raised from fees and membership are used exclusively for new and replacement toys.
Opening hours:The best time to borrow toys and books is:
- the beginning or end of any session in the centre
- during Friday’s stay & play session
- at any outreach session or
- we can arrange a time specifically to suit you if you ring or email us at the office.
Outreach toy library service: We operate a monthly, mobile toy library service to Highampton preschool, Exbourne preschool, Northlew and Black Torrington Toddler groups. For current dates go to the Special Events Diary.
Borrow books too!Hatherleigh Children’s Centre also has a fantastic selection of children’s books and parenting books that we lend to families and groups through a library lending scheme. Books are available to borrow at the toy library, during outreach sessions and at Bounce and Rhyme sessions.
