About Us
In October 2006, after four years of temporary accommodation the Hatherleigh Area Surestart Children’s Centre moved into fantastic purpose built facilities within the newly built Hatherleigh Community Centre.
We are a small, friendly staff team consisting of myself (Manager – Jenny Mackenzie) an administrator, 2 project workers and 4 play workers. We offer a stimulating and welcoming environment to all our families and children 0-5 years.
Our centre now hosts a variety of child and parent activities which include Bounce and Rhyme sessions to encourage communication through song, rhyme and stories; a fantastic selection of toys and books for young children in our toy/book library. We are able to provide support and a venue for local childminders, can offer information to families on different aspects of parenting, arrange first aid courses for parents, stay and play and holiday fun sessions for all the family, outreach sessions to rural villages and we actively promote healthy eating for young children. We also host the local Health Visitor baby clinic, and work closely with all local agencies and groups in the area to ensure the best possible service to families.
At Hatherleigh Children’s Centre, our ethos is to support and strengthen families and communities.
